Incursion by Aleksandr Voinov

When the local authorities ask Kyle Juenger to hunt a shape-shifting Glyrinny spy, he can't refuse. After all, he can use the reward to replace his paralyzed legs with cyberware, and maybe even to return to his home planet. Besides, he hates the morphs-those invasive, brain-eating monstrosities whose weapons cost him his legs.

Kyle's best lead is the Scorpion, a mercenary ship armed to the teeth. Grimm, the "Scorpion's" pilot and captain, fascinates Kyle. He's everything Kyle lost with his legs, and he's from the same home world. He's also of the warrior caste-half priest, half savior. But Grimm's been twisted by life as a merc, and Kyle's stuck undercover as a criminal on the run.

That doesn't stop Grimm from coming on to Kyle, or from insisting he's more than the sum of his past and his useless legs. But Kyle has other concerns-like tracking a dangerous morph who could be wearing anyone's face. And as if things weren't complicated enough, Kyle can't tell if Grimm is part of the solution . . . or part of the problem.

FINAL RATING: ★★★★/★★★★★

This book was just...WOW. I didn't expect to like this book soooo much. But i am sad because it was just way to short for my tastes. The story itself was interesting, and i loved the writing. It kept me reading until i finally read it whole. And it's rare to find a sci-fi m-m book which was properly executed. And the ending (around 75%)! I sooooooooooo didn't see that one coming! I thought i knew who the shapeshifter was, but damn, i was wrong.

Anyway, the characters were awesome. Kyle is absolutely well done, and whole book is from his perspective (third person), with a lot of sarcastic thoughts and comments thrown here and there. Because of his disability, he lost hope and had given up. And Grimm - i liked him a lot! (pervert, but we will ignore that). As for Kshar, he was interesting SOB.

For those who read this, here was my primary list of suspects of people who could have been Kshar:
1.Winter - she was just suspicious
2.Kyle - because of that scene when he was confused
3.Someone totally unexpected or someone who didn't show up at all
4.Grimm (no comment.)

Seriously, is there more of this????

P.s. check out Blacky's review for more info and because it is what made me want to read this precious one in the first place :D
